That’s right, ziggalyn_blog is celebrating its first birthday!
***this is actually a bit late, the first “post” was on December 28th
To celebrate, ziggalyn_blog will be getting a makeover. This will probably not be an annual occurrence, it’s just that the blog doesn’t look as appealing to me as it did when it was released. The blog’s new look will hopefully be finished and on to the World Wide Web in a few days. I’m also planning to digitize (in a vector art form) my crude drawings of the ziggalyns on the About page.
In other news, I’ve also uploaded an article I’ve written about the 2023 Physics Nobel Prize that was awarded earlier this month. It might be subject to a few minute changes that are related to grammar, but I thought I might as well release it before the New Year.
On the subject of the New Year, here are some of my favorite books I read this year (in chronological order) and my rating of them.
The Crucible, by Arthur Miller (4/5 stars)
A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry (3.5 / 5 stars)
The Martian Chronicles, by Ray Bradbury (5 / 5 stars)
The Right Stuff, by Tom Wolfe (3.5 / 5 stars)
The Killer Angels, by Michael Shaara (5 / 5 stars)
The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho (3 / 5 stars)
The Sun Also Rises, by Ernest Hemingway (3.5 / 5 stars)
The Sea-Wolf, by Jack London (4 / 5 stars)
Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Brontë (3 / 5 stars)
Song of Solomon, by Toni Morrison (4.5 / 5 stars)
Hamlet, by William Shakespeare (4 / 5 stars)
Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare (3.5 / 5 stars)
My top books of 2023 were The Martian Chronicles, The Killer Angels, and Song of Solomon. I recommend all the books on that list, but these were by far my favorite. I’ve also started to get into reading plays, which is something I hadn’t really done until The Crucible.
